ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (WSVN) — A 25-year-old man shared his experience of being lost at sea for more than a day after a violent wave swept his small boat away. Charlie Gregory, who was fishing off the coast of St. Augustine, recounted the terrifying moments and the remarkable water rescue that ultimately saved his life.“I knew I was going to die; it was a matter of when,” said Charlie in an exclusive interview with Inside Edition.Charlie embarked on his fishing trip at 3 a.m. on a routine outing. “I went out to the same spot I always go fish, just right inside of the jetties,” Charlie explained, describing the initial moments of his ordeal. After he anchored his aluminum boat and cast his line into the water, an enormous wave struck, capsizing his boat and ripping it away from the anchor. Charlie said he lost his life jacket as the low tide receded and pushed him out to the ocean.“After the first time that the boat flipped, I flipped the boat over, I got ...

Bulgaria to drop ban on Ukrainian grain imports

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 18:50:58 GMT

Bulgaria will no longer block imports of Ukrainian grain after current restrictions expire this Friday. The national parliament voted 124 to 69 Thursday in favor of a resolution to lift a ban on imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds from Ukraine imposed earlier this year by the European Commission at the request of Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov said on Wednesday that lifting the ban on imports from Ukraine would be desirable because it would lower the price of basic foodstuffs. He said the government would ask the Commission for financial compensation for farmers and to improve infrastructure. The Parliament’s resolution states that, in view of Bulgaria’s solidarity with Ukraine and the need to supply agricultural products for global food security, the country does not support the extension beyond September 15.Of the five countries subject to the restrictions, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia have said they will im...

Morning rain across the Cape tapers off today, allowing for all of Southern New England to dry out. With returning sunshine and lowering humidity, it’ll be a fine September afternoon across Southern New England with highs in 70s. We’ll deserved I may add. It’ll be cool tonight and dry with lows back into the 50s. Sunshine fades away tomorrow morning as clouds thicken up as Hurricane Lee makes it’s up north in the Atlantic, paralleling the U.S. coast. As it gets closer to our coast, impacts start to increase Friday night into Saturday morning. Hurricane Lee… The latest on hurricane Lee this morning has a category 2 hurricane moving north, passing west of Bermuda tonight. As it tracks north, max sustained winds will decrease over the next couple of days while it’s overall wind field continues to expand. Callahan: Why the Patriots’ JuJu Smith-Schuster question won’t be going away

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 18:50:58 GMT

FOXBORO — In March, the Patriots signed JuJu Smith-Schuster to be their best receiver.Last Sunday’s opener told you he’s their fourth. Maybe fifth. That is the reality the Patriots painted when they sidelined Smith-Schuster for their final drive against the Eagles, and instead opted for Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte and Demario Douglas at receiver.Since then, Patriots coaches have said all the right things about Smith-Schuster’s lack of playing time: he’s smart and works hard, he’s a good player and they feel positively about the two rookies who played over him. But they failed to directly explain why Smith-Schuster sat, which begs a larger question.Do the Patriots still believe he’s the receiver they signed six months ago for $25.5 million?Because a two-minute drill is nothing if not a declaration of belief. This is who we are. This is how we’re going to beat you. An offensive coordinator picks his best players, his best plays, and the off...

Areas from Watch Hill, Rhode Island, to Stonington, Maine — including Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket — are under a tropical storm watch. A storm surge watch has also been issued for Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket with the potential for life-threatening flooding there late Friday and Saturday. The looming arrival of the hurricane threatened to unleash more violent storms on a region that earlier in the week saw 10 inches (25 centimeters) of rainfall over six hours and on Wednesday saw communities in Massachusetts ...

MONTREAL — Laurentian Bank has completed its review of strategic options without a deal to sell the bank. It says it has decided that its best path forward to drive shareholder value is an accelerated evolution of its current plan with an increased focus on efficiency and simplification.A strategic review is often seen by investors as a prelude to a sale by a company. Transfers to the mainland were ongoing.“After a particularly challenging day like yesterday, today people are being continuously transferred,’’ said Francesca Basile of the Italian Red Cross. “The situation is certainly complex and gradually we are trying to return to normal.”She said all of the migrants have been given food, and that camping beds were being distributed “so that they don’t sleep in the cold.”On Wednesday, some migrants scuffled for food and bottles of water, according to Sicilian media.
