LOS ANGELES (AP) — For the first time since last season, Phoenix coach Vanessa Nygaard opened her pregame comments without announcing how many days Brittney Griner had been jailed in Russia.Griner has been free s6-ince December when she was part of a high-profile prisoner swap. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The former chief lobbyist for the San Francisco 49ers has testified that a Silicon Valley city councilman illegally leaked a confidential report criticizing the team’s political influence, it was reported Friday.Rahul Chandhok told a criminal grand jury March 21 that Santa Clara City Councilmember Anthony Becker digitally sent him the report — which was made by a civil grand jury — last October, the San Francisco Chronicle reported after reviewing a transcript of his testimony. Prosecutors accuse Becker of providing the secret report to Chandhok and a local news outlet ahead of its official release and then lying to the grand jury about it. He has pleaded not guilty to one felony count of perjury under oath and a misdemeanor count of willful failure to perform duty. He could face up to four years in state prison if convicted.The 49ers play in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, about 35 miles (55 kilometers) south of San Francisco. BASTROP, Texas -- A family in Bastrop is honoring the legacy of a former Bastrop High School football star with a scholarship.The L.B. Evans, III Memorial Football Scholarship was awarded to Damari Monroe of Bastrop High School, and he will attend Mary Hardin-Baylor University in the Fall.Evan's wife, and former KXAN reporter Sonta Henderson, said the scholarship is a way to continue the legacy of Evans, who was a 1988 graduate and a football star on the Bastrop Bears team.Evans was known for his leadership and uplifting his teammates, Henderson said. She said his passion for the game caught the eye of Hollywood, and he was cast in the blockbuster movie, "Any Given Sunday." A marathon game for Gophers softball team ended in a whopping 13 innings on Friday night in Seattle, Wash.Though the Gophers headed into the NCAA Tournament extremely confident in their abilities to make a run, they fell in an incredible matchup that will go down in history regardless of the winner.After battling tooth and nail in the opener of the NCAA Regional, the Gophers suffered a disheartening 5-4 loss. COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -Thursday night left residents of Colonie hesitant to use their water. Colonie Town Supervisor, Peter Crummey, says the water superintendent put the advisory in effect as a precaution for health.Thursday, National Grid was doing planned work to high voltage lines in the area of the Mohawk View Water Treatment Plant, which Crummey says may have caused pressure surges. The pressure relief valve inside the plant was opened and failed to close, flooding the basement of the building. After pumping the water out, testing began. Pastors on Patrol walk for Village Barber and Beauty "There is absolutely no evidence that any contaminated water was put into this system. Working very hard to make sure that we're back online.
